The main characters of the Darkyn series are historical figures that have somehow been infected with a strange strain of virus/ bacteria. Not about the story, but the theory behind the emergence of what Lynn Viehl describes as Vrykolakas or the undead ones.
This is a romance story, mirror closely to Feehan's Carpathian series, except with a few differences. The romantic notion though is the same: lifemates/ sygkenis meaning the only one. In a world full of unhappiness and separation, finding a soul mate seems to be a dream come true, only for some females though.
This story is unlike most, because usually the situation is guy meets girl, falls in love, struggle struggle then prevails. In Twilight Fall, I am happy to say that the story starts off with a heart broken guy and a girl with a secret. Yum, I like secrets.
And a concurrent storyline, separate but not entirely part of the story, is the origin of Darkyn and the threat that will destroy the careless. Wow, Lynn Viehl should be a mystery writer, she weaves a good scientific story so intriguing that I would be reading more of it soon.
