We all know what that means, expensive and sometimes disappointing movie. There are a lot of great Steven Spielberg movies, of course there will be some that does not live up to the expectations of movie goers.
Enter Tin Tin, whom was a comic character created by a Belgian artist, Georges Remi. In this Tin Tin adventure, Spielberg has chosen The Secret of the Unicorn (issue 11) for the movie, for what reason I do not know. But it is interesting to note, is that Captain Haddock is introduced as a new character in this movie, a change from the original. If you follow the comic or the animation series, Captain Haddock was introduced in issue 9, the Crab with the Golden Claws.
That small difference aside, possible to make the story more independent. Snowy, the fox terrier is an absolute delight in terms of character and CG. For a dog, you can actually read its facial expression and body language to know what it is feeling, I think it is a great, but to actually pay attention to a dog, Spielberg has captured another special part that makes TinTin so fun.
Yes, Snowy the dog is a special dog with emotion and smarts; couple that with the undying loyalty to its master, and its fondness to alcohol [watch and see] might upset some dog lovers.
In retrospect, although some of the more hardcore purist or a disinterested watcher might find it a dull movie; for me, it is a fast paced, funny yet acceptable Adventures of Tin Tin movie. When they mean 3D, it is not wearing the glasses 3D, it means that the animation is 3D. Sometimes I hope that they have a different term altogether.
It is worth however, your time to watch.
